The time is ripe for Arctic® apples

With 2012 coming to a close, many publications have been looking back at the year that was (as we did in last week’s post) and examining the major food trends of the past year. Something that struck us when reading about these trends is that they help demonstrate why it’s the perfect time for an innovative product like Arctic® apples!

First was an article by “The Supermarket Guru” in which he identifies the #1 trend of 2012 to be reducing food waste, one of the chief benefits nonbrowning apples offer. Furthermore, #2 was the increase of snacking and mini-meals (what better snack than apple slices?) and #3 focused on the importance of addressing conditions like diabetes and heart disease (greater apple consumption can definitely be part of the solution). Ripe Arctic Apples

You don’t have to only look at 2012 trends to see why Arctic® apples are timely. Look ahead to 2013! Marketing Daily shared the results of a study of 1,000 mothers in the United States on their planned food-buying habits in 2013. More than half said they wanted to make more meals ahead of time. While it would be tough to include conventional apples in pre-made meals due to browning, Arctic® apples suddenly make this a viable option. Mom’s also expressed the desire to buy healthier food, including less sugary snacks and processed foods, which again make Arctic® apples an ideal choice.

Last but not least, The Daily Meal identified the “Continued Marriage of Science and Food” as its #1 food trend of 2012, and of course we couldn’t agree more! With trends like these, we are as confident as ever that Arctic® apples can help fill a valuable need and get more people eating more apples!
